Clemson University’s Board of Trustees denounced one of the South Carolina school’s founders, Benjamin Tillman, in a resolution passed on Friday.

Clemson was pressured to stop honoring Tillman in the aftermath of the June shooting of nine people at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina. The resolution passed unanimously.

One of the buildings at the university is named for Tillman, who was also a founding trustee of the university. He also served as both a South Carolina governor and U.S. Senator.

One more attack on Southern history, and one more attack on Southern people.

Magnolia, Miss. removes state flag

Don’t protest flag removals or rally in support of the Battle Flag, because you might just anger the powers that be…Mayor Anthony Witherspoon said the decision to take down the State flag is a response the citizens of the town supported after outsiders organized a pro-flag protest at City Hall. Of course, that evil flag was removed because it contains the Battle flag in the corner.

NC House Approves Bill to Prohibit Removal of Confederate or Historic Monuments

monuments

The NC House Homeland Security Committee approved a bill to ban state agencies and local governments from taking down any object of remembrance on public property that commemorates an event, a person, or military service that is part of North Carolina’s history.

Rep. Michael Speciale said “This bill has nothing to do with what’s happened with the Confederate flag, but I think that’s a good reason we need something like this – to stave off the flames of passion.”

Rep. Larry Pittman said “History needs to be retained – you don’t know who you are without history. I don’t think the government has the right to change what history is.”

Kudos to North Carolina

Confederate Rock at Boone County Missouri Courthouse to be moved

County commissioners voted unanimously to move the rock that commemorates the Confederate Civil War soldiers from the Boone County Courthouse to the Friends of Centralia Battlefield in Columbia Missouri.

The inscription on the rock reads: “To Honor the Valor and Patriotism of Confederate Soldiers of Boone County.”

The rock was moved once before, in 1974 from where Speakers Circle is on campus, at the request of the Legion of Black Collegians.

County Commissioner Karen Miller said she wanted everyone to feel comfortable when they visit city government buildings. I’m not sure why a memorial would make them uncomfortable.

The man (Tommy Thomas III) who brought this up said “My goal is to get justice for as many people as I can. This is a small step and its on to the next thing.”

Justice? Really? I submit you are an absolute moron.

Lawsuit Filed against Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley

Cullman, Alabama attorney Melvin Hasting filed a lawsuit in Montgomery County Circuit Court against Gov. Robert Bentley over the removal of the Confederate flag from capitol grounds last month.

Hasting said “This was a knee-jerk reaction by the governor, and I don’t think he or the Alabama Historical Commission has the authority to remove the flag.” He also stated the historical commission has the duty to protect and preserve our state’s history, and the Confederate flag and Confederacy is part of that history.

Bentley had this to say “…we’re not the state that George Wallace governed over in 1963. We’re the state where Gov. Robert Bentley is the governor.”

Thank you Gov Bentley, you’ve shown your true colors.

PROFESSOR WANTS CITIZENS PUT IN JAIL FOR DISPLAYING FLAG

Nicholas Bomell, a waste of skin

Nicholas Bromell, a professor of American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, calls for a new law that would classify displaying the Confederate flag a hate crime.

The anti-southron professor said “It is a fine thing that the Confederate flag will no longer fly above the South Carolina state capitol, but displaying the Confederate flag anywhere is, at bottom, an act of hate. It should be recognized as such, and punished as a hate crime.”

Memphis, Tenn., Votes to Exhume Body of Confederate General

Nathan Bedford Forrest

Nathan Bedford Forrest

City leaders unanimously voted on Tuesday night to exhume the bodies of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a former Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan leader and his wife who are buried in the city’s Health Sciences Park, and move them to a private cemetery.

They also voted to remove the statue of General Forrest astride his horse.

The graves cannot be disturbed unless it is approved by a Tennessee court and by the Tennessee Historical Commission, and neither may be in agreement with city leaders, who seem to be reacting in knee-jerk fashion as usual.
