Nicholas Bromell, a professor of American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, calls for a new law that would classify displaying the Confederate flag a hate crime.

The anti-southron professor said “It is a fine thing that the Confederate flag will no longer fly above the South Carolina state capitol, but displaying the Confederate flag anywhere is, at bottom, an act of hate. It should be recognized as such, and punished as a hate crime.”

Memphis, Tenn., Votes to Exhume Body of Confederate General

Nathan Bedford Forrest

Nathan Bedford Forrest

City leaders unanimously voted on Tuesday night to exhume the bodies of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a former Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan leader and his wife who are buried in the city’s Health Sciences Park, and move them to a private cemetery.

They also voted to remove the statue of General Forrest astride his horse.

The graves cannot be disturbed unless it is approved by a Tennessee court and by the Tennessee Historical Commission, and neither may be in agreement with city leaders, who seem to be reacting in knee-jerk fashion as usual.

More Stone Mountain Controversy

Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain

In light of the decision by park officials to not remove the Battle Flag from the Stone Mountain Memorial, U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson has asked if we should blast the images that are carved into the mountain. Even though it is a Heritage site, he said “… it is a public park that all of us go to, and I guess we have to all keep it in perspective.”

NAACP’s Atlanta branch President Richard Rose wants the offensive (to him) himage gone as well, saying “They can be sand-blasted off, or somebody could carefully remove a slab of that and auction it off to the highest bidder.”

Maybe Rose could be auctioned off to the highest bidder instead….outside of the US.

Stone Mountain Confederate Flag To Remain

Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain

The Confederate Battle Flag will continue to fly at Stone Mountain Park.

The flags were donated by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1964 and are considered a memorial, protected under Georgia law, and as such it will keep flying at memorial plaza because state law prevents its removal.

Another win for Southern peoples!

SD police chief will keep Confederate flag on department’s uniform

PATCH

PATCH

Potter County city of Gettysburg South Dakota will not be removing the Confederate Flag from patches of the police department.
A statement on the Gettysburg Facebook page made it absolutely clear:

“Due to the turmoil of the Confederate Flag, the City of Gettysburg would like to address the City Officer’s Police patch. Gettysburg was founded in 1883 by Civil War Veterans, many of whom are still buried here. In fact the Dakota Sunset Museum has a cannon replica of the cannons that the Confederate army used at the battle, on loan to us from Gettysburg, PA. The patch was created in 2009 in honor of our founding fathers by Scot Barsdale, who resides in South Carolina, after learning the history of Gettysburg from then Chief of Police, Gayle Kludt. Scot has created many patches for police agencies all over the United States. The City of Gettysburg’s police patch has the American Flag and the Confederate flag overlapping, which was meant to symbolize unification, and a cannon to represent the battle that the City of Gettysburg is named after. This patch has no racist intentions; it is meant to be another way that we, as a city, represent our heritage. Without the war, and without the Battle of Gettysburg, we would not be the same City that we are. The Chief of Police, Bill Wainman, the Mayor, Bill Wuttke, and the City Council have no intentions of changing the police patch.”

National Cathedral to remove Confederate stained glass

Confederate stained glass

Confederate stained glass

On Wednesday, the board of visitors of The Citadel voted 9-3 to remove the Confederate Naval Jack from its chapel “to an appropriate location” on its campus.
That isn’t all they are doing to destroy history however…they will remove the stained glass windows representing the reconciliation of the North and South as well…

Given the nature of the cathedral space, Hall said, a change in the windows will take “time, energy and money.” In the interim, he said, a display will be placed near the windows “to explain them in their historical context.”

“We will gather a representative group to work with us to imagine how new windows can best represent our shared history of war and peace, racial division and reconciliation,” he said. “We will also discuss the future of the Jackson and Lee windows.”

NAACP wants Confederate flag removed from AL police cruisers

State Troopers

State Troopers

Alabama State Troopers have a Confederate Battle Flag in the decal on their patrol cars, and in the patches on their uniforms. The Huntsville chapter of the NAACP says it time to make it all go away, and they plan on taking their fight to Montgomery.

The Right Reverend Moron Robert L. Shanklin says, “We need to do a clean sweep. The state and local government, anywhere that that’s located.”

South Carolina: Confederate flag comes down Friday

Gov. Nikki Haley signed a bill Thursday to relegate the Confederate flag to the state’s “relic room,” more than 50 years after the rebel banner began flying at the Statehouse.
“The Confederate flag is coming off the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse,” said Haley before signing the bill. “We will bring it down with dignity and we will make sure it is stored in its rightful place.”

Heritage being erased, denied, and twisted to satisfy the hateful, ignorant masses who blindly re-bleat and regurgitate the same worn out “It’s about slavery” cliche the left is so fond of saying.
